My Favourite Image of 2019

My Favourite Image of 2019

I took a lot of great images in 2019, of a lot of awesome people and from a lot of amazing places.

Sometimes it’s not just the image itself that makes you fall in love with it, it’s the story behind it too.

I took this drone shot of a stunning fire sky sunrise over Valletta back in December. I’d almost called off the trip due to being really sick (maybe I had Covid-19…) but decided that as I’d booked everything I ought to at least make the trip and see how I felt when I got there.

I was only there for a little over 24 hours and had one full day that I’d planned to shoot sunrise and sunset. When my alarm went off at 5am on the morning of said sunrise, I remember how much I didn’t feel like getting out of bed and making the trip down to the marina and very nearly hit snooze and called the sunrise mission off.

It’s in those moments that the universe often rewards you if you say no to the easy route and force yourself to do the thing you don’t feel like doing.

And so I dragged myself out of bed, headed out to shoot a vlog and ended up with this incredible image.

Valletta, Malta, December 2019.

I love this image, not only because it’s a stunning display of nature but also because it reminds me to act in those moments I might not feel like doing something and I may just reap a reward!
