Self Portraits at the Studio

This week I decided that as I hadn't done a studio shoot in a while, I'd put myself back in the line of fire and shoot some self-portraits using a couple of heavy hitters, the Canon 5Ds and the Fujifilm GFX 50s.

Not only is it quite challenging to shoot self-portraits from a technical standpoint e.g. composition, posing, focusing etc, it also doesn't help if you hate having your photo taken. I'm certainly not model material and don't think I'm particularly photogenic, but in the quest to become a better photographer, I am willing to push my comfort zones and this shoot certainly did that.

I didn't have a theme or mood in mind, as it was pretty much an experimental shoot I just played around with different looks and lighting setups till I got a few images of myself that I didn't hate haha.

I've had the Canon 5Ds for a while now and it's a great studio camera but I was blown away by the quality of the Fujifilm GFX 50s. It impressed me more than the Hasselblad X1D that I used not long ago. If I was in the market for a medium format camera for high end work, I'd definitely consider the Fuji.

Below are a couple more edits from the shoot but I'll definitely be back to shooting models the next time I'm in the studio!
